Tai Chi as a means of exercise and fun
The centre offers 3 types of Tai Chi, for Arthritis, for Back Pain and for Diabetes. Tai Chi for Arthritis is suitable for anyone who needs a very gentle form of exercise, the moves are slow but over the full range of moves exercises all the muscle groups in the body, in time the participants learn not only to do the moves but also the mental relaxation side of Tai Chi.
Tai Chi for back pain is very similar but concentrates more on the the breathing and muscle development in the lower abdomen and this in turn improves pain management and posture. Tai Chi for Diabetes is a more energetic form of Tai Chi that has more stretching involved and also some kicks, this form would not suit anyone who cannot balance well or has back problems.
Tai Chi for diabetes is a different form of Tai Chi with moves that will assist in balance and overall fitness. It has been designed especially for anyone with diabetes as it will assist in blood glucose control.
To take part in our Tai Chi program participants are asked to sign a waiver before starting the program but once accepted can attend one or all of the sessions (see our program of activities). The cost is a gold coin donation to help cover our costs. Refreshments are available. For more information click here
